REVISED! Maps, Graphs, & Charts Practice Packets provide unique map, chart, and graph styles to familiarize students with the multiple ways geographical and analytical information can be presented. Each test will measure your student's ability to use a reference source to find information, make comparisons, approximate times and distances, use scales, and interpret legends and keys. The wide variety of world maps, regional maps, local area maps, state park maps, historic site maps, pie charts, stacked bar charts, and line charts will help students master an assortment of material and stand out at their academic competition.

Each test is written in the format of actual UIL invitationals, providing students with practice exercises similar to what they will encounter at UIL/PSIA competitions. Questions appear in the standard multiple-choice and true-or-false contest format. Sample tests grow progressively more difficult to help your student reach a higher skill level by the time the last test in the packet is completed.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Shannon Barker was Hexco's in-house editor, writer, and academic coach specializing in geography and social studies. Shannon holds a Master of Public Administration degree and is a former passage writer for Harcourt School Publishers. She was an elementary educator for social studies and language arts. While serving over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, Shannon has journeyed throughout North America and three other continents. She has two beautiful daughters and enjoys hiking, gardening, reading, and ballet.

Beth Mader is a writer, researcher, and editor for Hexco. She has a bachelor's degree in English and an MBA from Schreiner University along with copy editing and tutoring experience. Beth currently plays a key role in deciphering and recording pronunciations for Hexco's spelling products; she also edits numerous UIL Computer Applications tests produced by Hexco.
