Heading to a Regional or State Spelling Bee?

REGIONAL AND STATE SPELLING BEES ARE APPROACHING IN LESS THAN A MONTH, AND OUR 'RACE TO REGION' COACHING HELPS YOU MAKE THE MOST OF TIME LEFT TO STUDY.

• At the 2022 National Spelling Bee, 33% of the spellers used Hexco products.
• 70% of the 13 finalists used Hexco products and 30% of those were in our coaching.
• 52% of the 48 semifinalists used Hexco products and 32% of those were in coaching.

Hexco's annual RACE TO REGION coaching program teaches skills for fielding words typical of major bees, stretches spellers' word bank with difficult-to-spell words and greatly expands knowledge of language and words.

'Study Smarter' and enjoy organized learning with Hexco's head coach with over 25 years of experience. Michelle Horton has coached over 200 National Spelling Bee participants and has piloted over one-third of National Spelling Bee finalists since 2008.

• Weekly comprehensive assignments covering the following:
• Language families and related word lists
• Difficult-to-spell words typical of high-level bees
• Latin and Greek roots
• Personalized feedback after each session for speller and parent
• Scopious, unassigned words for teaching skills in fielding unknown selections
• Skills in optimizing speller's study time while developing techniques

Word lists are available in Hexco's eMentor application that speaks each word, tracks errors and shows definition, speech part and language of origin.

Sessions are prepared in advance and adapted for each individual speller. Speller and coach meet via Skype, Teams or Zoom for the quizzing/coaching sessions.

QUIZZING/COACHING SESSIONS

• Spellers must have Merriam Webster's Unabridged Online Dictionary (subscription, not free version).
• All correspondence will take place via email and Google sheets.
• No additional resources are REQUIRED for the class, but we do recommend New Nat's eMentor or New Nat's Notes, Verbomania eMentor or Verbomania, Spelling Rules Book, Blitz eMentor or Blitz List(s), Webster Detector, etc. for studying. These are not provided with the class
